    office employees discussing a project

A project manager’s mission is to bring ideas to life in a professional setting; they are the facilitator and coordinator of teams that have been assigned to deliver something of value to an organization. Therefore, project managers require leadership and critical thinking skills in order to bring the experiences of many together, taking great ideas and turning them into reality. During this course, you will work in small teams throughout to apply what is being taught in simple case studies. When the course is complete, you will have the confidence and skills needed to deliver immediate value, and you will earn professional development hours should you decide to pursue your PMP® certification.

For those new to project management, you will come away with…

    • the knowledge and skills to lead smaller projects with a low degree of complexity and risk.
    • the basics of the project management discipline,
    • having practiced different methods and tools and built a tool chest ready to apply to your first project management assignment.
    • 20 professional development hours towards your PMP® certification requirement

For seasoned project managers, you will…

    • earn 20 professional development hours to apply in obtaining or maintaining a certification
    • (For people that engage as stakeholders) fine-tune critical thinking skills that focus on projects
    • build insight into problem areas to be watchful of
    • learn how to ask more pointed questions.

    Career Outlook:

Project managers with formal training and credentials stand out in the market. The Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential is considered the global gold standard in certifications, but obtaining this credential requires formal project management training and demonstrated experience in the discipline.

Based on the 2023 salary survey performed by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), 66% of respondents reported compensation increases over the past twelve months, with 61% stating greater than 5% increases. In the United States, the median income of project managers without a PMP® was reported to be $90,000 and with a PMP® $130,000.
