    Come learn the basics of this fabulous sport in our 4-day introductory fencing camp. You will be bouting by the end of the week. Be ready to have fun using all your footwork, blade actions, and combative tactics !!!

    Kung Fu is a comprehensive training program that teaches the ancient Chinese martial art. Its goal is to develop physical fitness, mental discipline, self-defense skills, and an understanding of the traditional Chinese martial arts culture. This course covers basic forms of Kung Fu, as well as different combinations, kicks, stances, and Shaolin Lian Huan Quan. Kung Fu classes are suitable for a diverse range of individuals with different interests and needs, including adults! It is suitable for adults of all ages who want to improve their fitness, relieve stress, or learn self-defense. Upon completion of this course, students can expect to gain a wide range of skills, ideas, and personal development. These include physical fitness, self-defense techniques, discipline, focus, confidence, self-esteem, respect for others, cultural appreciation, stress relief, and mental well-being. Kungfu offers more than just physical techniques, as it enriches students' lives in various ways and empowers them to become better individuals both inside and outside of the course.

    In this 4-day camp, students will learn about a broad survey of different 3D modeling and animation disciplines. Using the industry standard 3D software, Autodesk Maya, we will walk through the basics of 3D modeling, dabble in some texturing with Photoshop, and work with professional quality 3D rigs to explore how 3D animation is done by the pros!

    "3D SketchUp for Beginners: Teen Edition'' is a comprehensive, step-by-step introductory course designed for teens with little to no experience in 3D modeling. Those interested in interior design and architecture, even hobbyists and DIY enthusiast will find the course helpful; you will explore the world of 3D modeling and master the basics of SketchUp, a user-friendly and powerful 3D modeling software. Over the duration of the course, students will learn how to navigate the SketchUp interface, create and manipulate 3D models, apply textures and materials, and generate wonderful perspective views for presentation purposes. 

    By the end of this course, students will have acquired essential skills in 3D modeling:  

    • Proficiency in using SketchUp tools and commands.     
    • The ability to create basic 3D objects and interior related elements and some  architectural components.     
    • Techniques for applying materials and textures to models.     
    • Methods for creating detailed and accurate 2D and 3D drawings.   
    • The capability to produce high-quality 3D models for presentations and client proposals.

    This course equips students with the foundational knowledge needed to confidently use SketchUp for personal projects, academic assignments, or professional tasks in interior design and architecture. 

    This is a HYBRID course. You can join the class in person or on zoom, LIVE REMOTE. 

    Materials:

    1. Desktop PC or laptop with internet connection (computers will be provided for in-person students / or students can bring their own laptop)  
    2. SketchUp Free web-based software (cost: free) : limited access to other features. Students should create an account through sketchup.com either before class or on the first day of session. 
    3. SketchUp Studio for Students* : 1-year license download for only $55. This includes a Pro account meaning unlimited access to almost everything including 3d rendering. Students need to produce proof school registration. (*This is totally optional and depends on student's own preference)

    Age Range: 15-18 are all welcome.

    Dive into the wonderful world of UV resin and porcelain clay art and learn to craft stunning jewelry! You will learn the main techniques and tricks to create beautiful jewelry with porcelain clay and UV resin. This course is perfect for beginner and intermediate crafters, both teens and adults. You will get acquainted with the essential tools and materials needed for clay and resin projects and learn how to roll, form, and attach clay. Led by Shruti Abhishek, a versatile and experienced Bharatanatyam artist, the course will guide students through the geometry and precision of the form, focusing on posture, alignment, and coordination. Each class will combine movement drills with rhythmic exercises, gradually incorporating elements of storytelling and expression.

    By the end of the course, students will gain a deeper understanding of Bharatanatyam's rhythmic structures, its emotive potential, and the discipline required to embody this ancient yet evolving dance tradition. No prior dance experience is necessary, and all levels are welcome.

    Dive into the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam with this beginner-friendly course designed for kids ages 6+ to introduce them to fundamental elements of this classical Indian dance form. Your child will explore the essential techniques, rhythms, and expressive movements that define Bharatanatyam, while building a strong foundation in its unique vocabulary of hand gestures (mudras), footwork (adavus), and facial expressions (abhinaya).

    Led by Shruti Abhishek, a versatile and experienced Bharatanatyam artist, the course will guide students through the geometry and precision of the form, focusing on posture, alignment, and coordination. Each class will combine movement drills with rhythmic exercises, gradually incorporating elements of storytelling and expression. By the end of the course, students will gain a deeper understanding of Bharatanatyam's rhythmic structures, its emotive potential, and the discipline required to embody this ancient yet evolving dance tradition.

     Looking to improve your golf game this spring? Learn with the guidance of an expert and with the support of other community members looking to improve. This course will analyze your grip, set-up, alignment and the full swing, and the instructor will provide video analysis and feedback on what to improve. You will learn various short game techniques including pitching, chipping, putting, and sand play. The last focuses on the theme of course management and involves playing 9 holes of golf. All levels welcome!  

    About your Instructor: Paul Sapsford is the instructor for this class. He has taught the Las Positas College Golf class for over 10 years, played collegiate golf in the UK, and was certified by the USGT as an Associate Teaching Professional in 2017.

    Our youth program is designed to empower kids with confidence, assertiveness, and self-defense skills to handle attacks or bullying situations.

    In our 2-HOUR YOUTH SAFETY & SELF-DEFENSE WORKSHOP, young people learn how to protect themselves in a fun, safe, supportive and empowered environment. Students will learn self-defense that includes awareness and safety strategies to deter bullies and violence, as well as simple, highly effective non-violent physical techniques. Physical techniques include defense for being pushed,  pulled, grabbed, or pinned to the ground by a bigger and stronger attacker. Rather than relying on strength, students will learn principles of leverage, timing, and energy efficiency. Regardless of age, size, strength or physical ability, students can learn the techniques of self-defense while gaining an increased sense of personal confidence and empowerment.

    The workshop starts with a series of warm-up exercises, followed by instruction in a specific skill with technique practice with a partner. The class ends with partner drills to build confidence and strengthen reflexes.

    Age range: No experience necessary. Youth ages 8-15 years old welcome.
