Our Medical Assistant Program is designed to prepare a student to become a Medical Assistant with a short yet comprehensive course of study. A medical assistant assists doctors with administrative procedures such as answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, bookkeeping, filing, insurance forms, and basic insurance billing. Medical Assistants also assist doctors in clinical procedures such as vital signs, injections, blood draws, basic lab tests, administration of medications, minor surgeries, and positioning patients for examinations. Instruction will include a basic overview of the administration of the medical office, anatomy, and physiology of the body systems, and clinical components, utilizing didactic and hands-on practice.

Upon successful completion of the didactic portion of the program, students are required to complete 160 hours of externship. After successful completion of their externship, students will have the opportunity to take the national certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.

The didactic lecture covers the theory of every subject associated with the front and back office. Laboratory instruction provides hands-on training associated with listed clinical and administrative procedures, verified through a skills check-off system.

Upon successful completion of the didactic portion of the program, students are required to complete 160 hours of externship. After successful completion of their externship, students will have the opportunity to take the national certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.

Class is fast paced and intense. Please be aware that missing classes may prevent you from receiving certification.  Looking for more information about the program? View or information slides here.

Industry Outlook: According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for Certified Clinical Medical Assistants will increase by 15% between 2023 and 2033 due to replacing workers retiring from the field or transitioning into another area of the medical field. The average yearly salary for a certified medical assistant is $59,424 a year which increases with a certification in other areas of the medical field such as phlebotomy or EKG Technician.

Requirements: Students must be 18 years or older and have either a high school diploma or a GED certificate or equivilent

    Medical Assistant Program Road Map:

    • 200 Hours of Hybrid Didactic (160 hours online lecture + 40 hours in-person clinical)
